The kitchen will be open 9.30 -2pm Thursday - Saturday and we offer freshly made, seasonal food to suit every taste. Simon creates daily specials which are always local meat and fish. Our vegetables, will this year come from our vegetable beds wherever possible – if not they are sourced locally and without plastic packaging and always British. I’m afraid we do import somethings – avocados for example!
Of course, we are bearing in mind what the possible new restrictions will be following Covid-19 lockdown – we are planning to remove tables and keep everyone at distance and spread ourselves around our garden. The glasshouse roof will be open, if not raining at all times to allow us all the outdoor air so do bring a coat if it’s a grey day.
The kitchen (in normal times) offers supper clubs every fortnight and during the summer is planning to ‘open up’ for dining al fresco for certain events, so please keep an eye on social media.
Our coffee and tea is made by Cupsmith, just a few miles away and their coffee is delicious – whilst we don’t get too hung up on ‘latte art’ – jolly good coffee is important and we think you will like it.
Our cakes – are homemade and do sell out in the afternoons. We bake daily using our own eggs from the chickens and you really can’t beat fresh eggs and homemade cakes.
Love to drink local wine? This isn’t a problem in the kitchen – we are pleased to have an alcohol licence and offer Greyfriars wine, Gorilla Spirits, Bitter Union bitters and Hogs Back beers. We do import red wine however.
MEET THE CHEF, SIMON
Simon White is an extremely talented chef and transforms the standard to incredible – his food brings joy to many! This year he’s opening up to the kitchen garden where he’ll be picking home grown vegetables daily and combining this with locally sourced meat and fish. His supper clubs is where he can play with food and treat people to feasts of the senses. Simon is a bit camera shy but we’re working on him!
